• Setting up and programming machines: You will mainly operate computer-controlled CNC machines, inputting programmes or adapting them.
• Manufacturing workpieces: You will produce individual parts or batches for machinery, vehicles, engines or the aircraft industry.
• Quality control: You measure the finished workpieces and check that the dimensions are exactly correct – often to within a hundredth or thousandth of a millimetre.
• Maintenance and servicing: You regularly inspect, maintain and repair the machine tools.
