Job description

  • You will develop and design bespoke machines, systems and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • You will develop technical concepts and assess their feasibility in order to devise design solutions
  • You will create 3D models, drawings and bills of materials
  • You will select suitable components and materials to suit the task at hand
  • In doing so, you take into account functionality, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness, as well as deadlines, quality and safety requirements
  • You carry out tolerance analyses and technical design calculations, whilst adhering to the required cycle times
  • For your projects, you research relevant standards and prepare the risk assessment
  • Where necessary, you plan and oversee preliminary tests and evaluate their results
  • You coordinate your designs with the project team as well as with customers, suppliers and external partners
  • You hand over your design to the production department and support the installation during assembly and commissioning
  • You implement changes arising from production and commissioning in a constructive manner
  • You keep the project documentation up to date at all times

Requirements

  • You must have a degree in mechanical engineering, design engineering or a similar discipline; alternatively, you may have completed a technical apprenticeship followed by further training to become a technician, or hold an equivalent qualification
  • You have experience in mechanical design, ideally in mechanical engineering or the manufacture of specialised machinery
  • You are proficient in using a 3D CAD system; experience with SolidWorks is an advantage
  • You have a good eye for designs that are suitable for production, functional and cost-effective
  • Knowledge of machine safety, risk assessment and relevant mechanical engineering standards is desirable
  • You approach your tasks independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and actively contribute your own ideas to projects
