• You will take on the technical and organisational leadership of the team, which currently comprises five staff members, in the areas of finance and third-party funding management
• You will also be responsible for monitoring the budget, as well as national and international third-party funding projects from various well-known funding bodies
• You will also oversee the management of the accounts in accordance with HGB guidelines, whilst consistently adhering to all internal financial management and accounting principles
• The preparation and monitoring of monthly, interim and annual financial statements are also part of your varied and responsible duties
• As part of your role, you will actively support the institute’s management in all strategic matters relating to budgeting and accounting
• Furthermore, you will provide comprehensive support to cost centre managers by offering expert advice on budget management and monitoring cost accounting
• Finally, you will be responsible for operational reporting, maintaining key reports and providing professional support for all upcoming audit matters

• You have a degree in Business Administration (m/f/d) or have completed a commercial apprenticeship as a financial accountant (m/f/d) or bookkeeper (m/f/d)
• You also have relevant professional experience in financial accounting, preferably in a research environment or at a publicly funded institution
• Your solid knowledge of SAP R/3 and proficiency in MS Office are key strengths in your day-to-day work
• You have business-fluent written and spoken German, as well as a good command of English for day-to-day communication within an international team
• Furthermore, you demonstrate a high degree of reliability and assertiveness, as well as a highly independent and goal-oriented approach to your work
• To fulfil this position of responsibility, in addition to your technical expertise, you must hold a valid work permit and be a permanent resident in Germany
