Job description

  • You weld stainless steel components (CrNi steels, e.g. 1.4301 / 1.4404) using the TIG process (process 141)
  • You weld thin sheets with low heat input, thereby minimising distortion
  • You produce clean, pore-free welds with a uniform appearance, even on visible surfaces
  • To ensure reliable root protection, you use shielding gas and forming gas correctly
  • After welding, you grind the seams and finish the surfaces with a grit or brush finish (e.g. grit 240–320)
  • In doing so, you will work with an angle grinder, belt sander and random-orbit sander
  • You will read technical drawings, parts lists and production documents and implement them in the production process
  • You prepare the components, align them and tack them in place for welding
  • After production, you inspect the welds and surfaces for dimensional accuracy and visual quality
  • To prevent cross-contamination, you use separate tools for stainless steel and take care to prevent contamination
  • You keep welding equipment, tools and your workstation tidy and report any issues to colleagues and supervisors

Requirements

  • You have completed an apprenticeship in the metalworking sector, for example as a metalworker (m/f/d), construction mechanic (m/f/d) or industrial mechanic (m/f/d) – alternatively, you have comparable professional experience
  • You are fully proficient in the TIG welding process (process 141) on stainless steel (CrNi steels, e.g. 1.4301 / 1.4404)
  • You have experience in welding thin sheets, including with low heat input and minimal distortion
  • You have experience in grinding and finishing stainless steel, for example when grinding weld seams and using grit and brush grinding (e.g. grit 240–320)
  • You are confident in using angle grinders, belt sanders and random-orbit sanders
  • You weld cleanly and without porosity, producing a uniform weld bead, even on visible surfaces
  • You are familiar with the use of shielding gas and forming gas, as well as root protection
  • You can read and implement technical drawings, parts lists and production documents
  • You have knowledge of how to prevent foreign rust, such as using separate tools for stainless steel and contamination protection
  • Good written and spoken German, as well as a valid work permit for Germany, round off your profile
